Elder and Senior Pastor
Pastor Carr was raised in the world of pro football and lived in many places growing up. His dad was a player and a coach in the NFL for nearly 40 years. Pastor Carr was converted to Christ as a Sophomore in college and eventually graduated from Wheaton College in 1983 with a degree in business and economics. Following college he attended Trinity Evangelical Divinity School earning a Masters of Divinity. About the same time he joined the Air Force Reserves as a chaplain and has been a reserve chaplain for over 20 years. He also has over 20 years of full-time church service as a full-time pastor having served churches in Boston, Iowa, and now the Fox Valley in Illinois. Ken married Priscilla in 1992 and they have 5 children. One of his favorite verses is 1 Timothy 1:15, "The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost."
Elder and Associate Pastor
Pastor Holwerda was born and raised in a Christian home in Wheaton. He did undergraduate studies at Hope College in Holland, MI and L’Ecole Superieur de Commerce in Dijon, France. He earned a graduate degree in Theology from Wheaton College. Having worked at CtK for 3 years as an intern, Jeff became the Associate Pastor in 2007. Among other things, his responsibilities include providing leadership to our Jr. and Sr. High ministries as well as AWANA.
Jeff and his wife Kathy are raising five children in Batavia. Together with Jonathan Edwards, he is “resolved, to live so at all times, as I think is best in my devout frames, and when I have clearest notions of things of the gospel, and another world.”
Bill heard the gospel of Jesus while attending an AWANA Club as a young child, and God used this to start and grow his faith. He received a B.S. degree from the University of Illinois in 2003, the same year he married Megan. God has blessed them with five children already, and they hope they're blessed with more. Bill also graduated from the University of Chicago in 2011 with an M.S. in Financial Mathematics. God has been leading Bill deeper into church ministry over the years, starting with music ministry in 2001, and he has been leading CtK's music since 2007. He also serves as a director in CtK's AWANA ministry, sharing the gospel with children from Kindergarten to second grade. Most recently, Bill has felt called into pastoral ministry and has served as an Elder since 2011. "If I say, I will not mention Him, or speak any more in His name, there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I am weary with holding it in, and I cannot" [Jer 20:9].
Dave Kroger grew up in a Christian home in Wheaton, where he attended College Church. Dave is a Wheaton College graduate in Physical Education and he got his masters from Aurora University in Educational Administration. Dave and his wife Mary have lived in Batavia for 15 years, where they are raising three children. Dave has been a physical education teacher at Wheaton North High School for over 20 years and is currently coaching football at New Trier High School. In addition to being an Elder at Christ the King, Dave has been involved with the Summer Sports Camp and the children's King's Court program at the church.
